Board Of
Directors
Dave Bosh (2012)
President
Dave Bosh has lived in the Minot area for over 25 years, moving here
from Lakota, North Dakota in 1983 to attend and eventually graduate
from Minot State University. Bosh is currently the Safety
Coordinator for Investors Real Estate Trust after spending 20 years
with the Ward County Sheriff’s Department. His wife Paula is a
Victim Specialist in the local Federal Bureau of Investigations
office. Their daughter Erin is a recent Minot State graduate working
as a Coordinator at the Choice Hotels Reservation Center. The Bosh’s
currently have a Springer Spaniel, Bailey, a SVAS alumni. They
recently built a home in the Trestle Valley area allowing for more
space for a dog to explore and oversee all there is see. It is a
good place to be a dog. Having
served two years on the board and having past experience with the
shelter, he has personally seen the staff at work and he knows the
quality of the care. His hope is to give his time to the
Animal Shelter to pay back all that he has received as an Animal
Shelter Alumni dog owner.
Larry Crawford (2012)
Vice President
Larry Crawford is no stranger to leadership. He is the former
president of the Town and County Sportsman’s Club, former director
and Vice president of the North Dakota Wildlife Federation. He is
the current president and long time volunteer for the “Achievers
Club” and has held a management position for more than 20 years for
the Booster Club of the 5th Civil Engineer Squadron. Now, Crawford
wants to use his management experience to help the Souris Valley
Animal Shelter. Crawford and his wife are huge animal lovers and
believe the Animal Shelter is a valuable and necessary asset to the
community. His family has welcomed several members to their family
and each came from the Animal Shelter. Over the years, his family
has sponsored cages, and made donations. This year Crawford donated
a handmade clock to be auctioned off at the Gala. The shelter holds
a special place in his heart as he has four four-legged family
members buried there. Crawford has extensive experience in
fundraising, scheduling, planning, budgeting, and long-range
projections. He has worked in building construction and facility
maintenance for the past 30 years and could use his skills to help
evaluate the needs for the SVAS property.
Dawn
Palumbo (2011)
Secretary
Dawn was raised in the Minot area. She attended Minot High
School as well as Minot State University. She currently works at
IRET Properties. Her husband, Todd is a Sergeant
with the Ward County Sheriff’s Department. They have one
daughter, Lily and are expecting another child in the spring. They have two dogs named
Shooter and Ellie. Shooter was adopted and Ellie was a stray. They are big supporters of
the Animal Shelter and have supported many fundraisers for the
shelter because they believe in its mission. Dawn's hope is to
devote her time in helping the shelter in any way she can.
Ron
Smith (2011)
Director
Ron was born and raised in Illinois. Joined the Air Force and
retired after 21 years. He currently works for Burlington Northern
Santa Fe first as a Conductor and also as a Yardmaster. He is
registered with the North Dakota High School Activities Association
as a sports official where he officiates various high school and
intramural sports. He served as the secretary for the Souris River
Officials Association on Minot AFB Base for a number of years. He
has 2 sons, 26/22 and 3 dogs; 1 pug and a Boston Terrier.
Glennda Sutton (2012)
Director
Glennda is an active dog trainer, having worked
with Action Agility for years, and now branching out on her own.
She and her family are a foster family for the Humane Society and
enjoy participating in the many fundraising activities at the
shelter. Glennda graduated from Minot State University in 2008 with
a degree in Accounting and is currently the Controller for The
Computer Store here in Minot. Her passion for rescuing animals and
knowledge of accounting and business will be an asset to the SVAS
Board of Directors.
Tanya Harstad (2011)
Director
My name is Tanya Harstad. I was born and raised
right here in Minot, ND. I am currently employed at Choice Hotels
International as a Human Resource Coordinator. I have worked at
Choice since June of 2000. I have been married to my husband, Brock,
for 11 years. He is employed with the City of Minot, currently as a
Recreation /Auditorium foreman. We have no children except for our
dog Toby. He was born in January 1999 and we adopted him from the
Souris Valley Animal Shelter in April of 1999. Although he is
getting up there in age, he is still our big baby who rules the
house. He is a Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix. I have always
had at least one dog in our house growing up and as an adult. Dogs
hold a very special place in my heart. Because of my love for
animals, I volunteer at the Animal Shelter at least once a year.
Kris
Warmoth (2011)
Director
Kris Warmoth was raised in Southern California
and moved to the Minot area in 1999. The oldest of 8 children she
grew up with cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits and ducks. An avid
supporter of animal rights, Kris has over the years supported the
advancement of products that do not use animal testing and is a
long-time supporter of the American Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals and the World Wildlife Federation. She recently
joined the Board of Directors for the Souris Valley Animal Shelter
and looks forward to assisting this group in their efforts to help
animals. Kris currently works for Minot State University as the Dean
for the Center for Extended Learning. She completed her Bachelors
and Masters at San Diego State and her doctorate in Education from
the University of San Diego. She hopes to help promote the shelter
by volunteering her skills in organizing events and managing large
projects. She currently has two cats, Bob and Junior. Bob is 19
years old and won her heart when she saw him in a box full of
kittens that were being given away in front of a grocery store.
Junior was adopted from the Helen Woodward Animal Shelter in Rancho
Santa Fe, California and he is 14 years old. Both her kitties were
born in California, but love North Dakota!
Russ
Gohl
Associate Director
Russ joined the SVAS Board in March 2006. Even though their successful businesses, Earthmovers and X-Press Mart, and family keep them extremely busy, Russ and his wife Jeanne still find time to be involved in the community. Whether it’s personally helping to build Habitat for Humanity homes, serving on local nonprofit organizational boards, or contributing to worthy causes (including their longtime financial support of the SVAS), Russ and Jeanne have definitely given back to Minot. They try to steal some time in the summer for themselves and their two Shih Tzu Poodle cross dogs to spend at the model airplane flying field, which Russ has helped make into one of ND’s finest. This field was also the home to the “Christmas in July” fundraiser Jeanne and Russ single-handedly organized that raised several hundred dollars for the Animal Shelter in 2006.
