How to Give
The Souris Valley Animal Shelter is funded solely on donations. We receive no city, county, state or federal funding nor do we receive any monies from the Humane Society of the United States or any other national animal rights programs. Hence, donations have always been a major source of support for the SVAS.
There are many different ways to give; listed on the tabs above are some of the most common types of charitable giving with information about the variety of ways in which you can make a gift to the SVAS.
Please share your plans with us. We can assist you in determining how you wish the SVAS to use your gift. Your contribution will benefit all animals under our care.

How Recurring Contributions Work
Join our monthly or annual giving program, allowing you to give conveniently and automatically! Monthly or yearly giving through this Recurring Program is an incredibly easy way to support the Souris Valley Animal Shelter. On the same day each month or each year, a tax-deductible amount that you choose will be charged to your credit card. Also, quarterly we will send you a receipt for your taxes. You may cancel your pledge at any time.

Tribute Gifts
Celebrate the special people or animals in your life with the purrfect gift! Make a donation on behalf of a loved one for any event or occasion: holiday, birthday, anniversary, memorial, or other milestones. Whichever you choose,
you can ensure that the recipient receives a heartwarming card acknowledging the gift made in their or their pet's honor (however, we will not disclose the amount unless permission is given).

Human Legacies
A bequest in your Will or Living Trust is an uncomplicated way to help protect animals. A bequest can be a specific sum, a percentage of an estate, or the remainder of an estate after expenses and gifts. Bequests can include cash, securities, real estate, houses, and personal property such as valuable collections, art or jewelry.
Living Trusts are a popular choice because the terms of a Living Trust, unlike a Will, can be put into effect immediately upon a person’s death, bypassing probate and keeping the terms private. When you include SVAS in your Will or Living Trust, you are entitled to join our recognition society. Participants receive special recognition in our quarterly newsletters.

Sponsor a Pet/Cage
Think about this: by sponsoring a cage for one year, you can help change the lives of as many as 17 dogs or 10 cats. That is the average number of animals that pass through one cage each year.
Your cage sponsorship of $20 a month or $240 a year provides care, shelter, and most of all, hope for a new life to these wonderful animals who wait for a second chance at love and a second chance at the dream of a loving home.
As a cage sponsor, you'll be acknowledged in our quarterly newsletter. In addiion, we will affix a sign with your name to one of our kennels or a kennel of the sponsor’s choosing. Sponsorships can bear personal names, company names or the names of loved ones or pets.
