Become an SVAS Volunteer Today!
Perhaps you were not looking for a furry companion but what if we
told you that our furry friends will love you unconditionally even
if you just pay them a quick visit. Perhaps you don’t want to make a
commitment to adopt an animal but you can surely pay them a visit in
our shelter.
That’s right! Just a visit goes a long way in promoting a stronger
and compassionate community!
Although we are a small shelter, together with your help, we can
make our shelter stronger by promoting humane treatment of abused,
neglected, or homeless animals. That’s why, even if you’re not
able to adopt, it would be a real honor for us to have you
as a volunteer and take part with us in: ending animal homelessness,
providing quality service and compassion to the animals entrusted to
our care, and leading the way in promoting humane values.
So become an SVAS volunteer today! Come to have fun, make a lasting
difference and help make SVAS the #1 resource for all things
pet-related!

Involved Today!
The SVAS welcomes volunteers with varied expertise and experience.
We are looking for volunteers who are committed, caring, and would
like to truly make a difference in the lives of animals. By joining
our team of volunteers, you can help us provide the resources and
support necessary to build lifelong relationships between people and
pets.
Volunteers at the SVAS must be at least 12 years of age. Children
under 12 can volunteer; however, due to safety reasons, we require
them to be chaperoned by parents or guardians.
Here's How to Get Started
Attend a mandatory one-hour volunteer orientation—held every
Saturday at 3:00 p.m.. This is the time to learn our policies,
procedures and programs and gain a true understanding of how many
ways your time helps us accomplish our valuable mission.
To sign up for the next volunteer orientation, please call Susan at
701.839.6770. You can also
download the volunteer application and
e-mail or bring it with you when you come for orientation.
Come join the fun and make a difference at the Souris Valley Animal
Shelter!
